In the Korean skincare world emulsions are quite an important step in your skincare routine. Since I’ve been using this emulsion every day, my skin has changed a lot. It’s gone from rough and dry to feeling moisturised and looking radiant. Read more to find out why I cannot go without this Premium Avocado Rich Emulsion from Skinfood. 🥑
The first two questions that might pop into your mind right now is what is an emulsion and isn’t it a very overrated step in your skincare routine? No, absolutely not. An emulsion is like a lighter version of a moisturiser, but packed full of great ingredients. You can compare it like if a moisturiser and a serum had a baby, it would be an emulsion. On -very- lazy nights I can get away by only using this emulsion instead of a thick moisturiser afterwards and my skin will still feel moisturised enough the next morning.
I’ve learned a lot about the skin barrier lately and I’ve found out that in summertime my skin is a combination of oily on the T-zone and feeling very rough (meaning the skin barrier could be ‘damaged’ and is in need of extra care). During the wintertime my skin gets drier, but still feels pretty rough. It’s as if all of the moisture I try to give, it still isn’t enough. Well guess what, I just needed to add a few steps to my routine and an emulsion is one of them.
I’ve purchased mine from Cosmetic-Love for only 9 dollars including shipping to the Netherlands. I couldn’t help myself from wanting to try this out, because I’ve had a good experience with the Avocado sheet masks from Tony Moly and luckily enough I wasn’t wrong! Let’s have a look at the ingredients of this emulsion.
WHAT SKINFOOD SAYS ABOUT THE EMULSION ON THEIR WEBSITE:
The Premium Avocado Rich is a revamp of our Avocado line. It has been upgraded to contain higher quality avocados, higher avocado content, and ceramides as a protective agent. It deeply nourishes and moisturizes skin with its natural fats and plethora of vitamins and minerals.
This moisture-rich emulsion features 10% avocado extract, avocado oil, and essential oils for maximum nutrition and instantly hydrates and locks in moisture for brighter, healthier skin. Ceramide, a natural fat molecule, is found in both avocado oil and skin cells. This ingredient strengthens dermal layers and inhibits dehydration for moisturized skin all day.

I think the product really lives up to it’s description. It’s not the kind of emulsion that sinks or disappears into the skin right away. There is like a moisturising film of avocado oil that lasts for a little while. The closest description I can give is that it’s like an emulsion on the oilier side. This is the number one reason I love this emulsion so much. This makes the emulsion more hydrating and I’ve noticed my skin getting less rough within weeks of daily use of this emulsion! In summertime I tend to only use this emulsion on really humid days and nights, because it’s moisturising enough for me around that time of year. I’m actually planning on purchasing the entire Avocado Rich line soon!
THE WAY IT LOOKS, SMELLS AND FEELS:
As I’ve mentioned before in this article, this emulsion has a oily finish to it. It’s not anything drastic and greasy, but a good kind of oily. The oily finish disappears approximately after half an hour (on my skin). The emulsion is really lightweight and feels like patting water onto your skin. It actually has a cooling sensation as well, which I really like. It does smell like there is quite a bit of perfume in it, but for once this doesn’t irritate my skin like perfume in products usually do.
This emulsion is one of my holy grail products ever. I’ve never had a product that’s lightweight and moisturises so, so well. I really like the ‘oily’ finish it has, because that really makes my skin look dewy and feel very moisturised. This is one of the products that won’t leave my routine for a very long time.
It’s also very affordable! I got mine from Cosmetic-Love and it was 5,95 dollars (on sale). The usual price lays around 10 dollars, which is still really affordable.
The bottle contains 140 ml, which doesn’t sound like a lot, but you only need very little product at a time.
I give this emulsion a 5 out of 5 paws!
